  • Back to the 90′s

Remember all the goodies from the 90′s? A few days ago, a co-worker and myself were reminiscing about the 90′s; the good, the bad, and the ugly. We kept naming various bands, artists, movies and TV shows that made an impression in our lives and was the thing to watch/listen to. Are there things that you vaguely/vividly remember?

Name a movie, TV show, album, group, song and book from the 90′s. Tell why you picked that item and what impressed/depressed you the most about it. Use bold letters to separate the categories like this:

m- Jurassic Park: I remember seeing this movie in the theater when I was 8. It was so intense I almost got up and left during the scene where the T-rex is playing with the cars and the group are stuck in the cars; however, I braved it and finished it. I was a favorite movie of mine for a while; haven’t seen it in years.

Free Willy: Don’t know why this movie impressed me but it did. This was the first movie that I remember listening to the score. One side of the cassette was the soundtrack, the other the score.

Apollo 13: This was my favorite movie for quite some time. I was rather impressed with the score as well as the cinematography.

Titanic: The highest grossing movie. Ironically enough, I didn’t see this movie until 2003 when I was in the dorms due to a very sheltered environment.

Twister: I remember the trailer for this movie made me think that it was a movie about a family that was caught in a tornado in a shoddy storm shelter. It scared me, but also made me think how can you make a 2+ hour movie about a family that’s caught in a system of tornados? I didn’t see this movie until 2005. Also, of note, back in the days when I chatted on The Score Station, I used this as a Professor Tom Triva (PTT. PTTs were an attempt to emulate the DQTs or the Damon Quick Topics. Sadly, PTTs didn’t catch on as well as DQTs.). The question was, “What was the first movie to be commercially released on DVD?”

TV- Are You Afraid of the Dark?: I remember enjoying the show. The only episodes I vaguely remember are: the one about the clown and the amusement park and the one about the pool. If I remember correctly, this came on Sunday nights at 5. It sucked because I could never finish the episode because I had to go to church at 6.

Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?: This was a great game show. Don’t remember much about it except the chain they pulled to put people in jail, but it was always entertaining to watch.
Guts!: One of the best athletic game shows. What was the goo called again?

Legends of the Hidden Temple: Another cool game show. Remember watching them have to go through the temple at the end of the show? That was always fun to watch.

a-II: Perhaps the most commercial album of the 90′s, who could forget the sound of Boyz II Men?

Music Box: Mariah Carey’s first album. Oh God, these are still classic songs.

g- Boyz II Men: they could sing and were nearly a one hit wonder. I defy you to name two albums they did.

Mariah Carey: She was young, sexy, and could sing.

s-One Sweet Day: One of the best band parings of the 90′s, this song was the duet between Boyz II Men and Mariah Carey.

b- Mossflower: While I read many books in the 90′s, the one that immediately comes to mind is Mossflower. What intrigued me most about this book is that despite all the talking animals, I never classified this as sci-fi. Though I have never read another book in the Red Wall Abby series, this book remains with me even thought I only read it once. Of course, it might also be sticking with because I just bought the hardback today after remembering it whist going over my list of books to turn into movies. Even back in ’97, I wanted to turn this into an animated movie. There was a feeble attempt to take the books and turn them into a TV series in the UK; however, the show was unsuccessful.

  • On the Cutting Edge of Societal Evolution

My friends, please indulge me as I continue to tease you. Hopefully, in a few short days I will have revealed all. Until that time it must remain a mystery. So while you ponder what the Sound of Silence is proclaiming, you may remark that I am A Most Peculiar Man and I will not think you the lesser for it.

I have updated. I hope that certain of you who’s avatars look like knights are happy.

Notice the new pet. I do believe this is an impulse in preparation for indulging a second impulse to (as planned) foolishly suppress the indulgence of yet a third impulse. All I can say is, Luck, Be a Lady with Me

EDIT: It’s a no-go and foolish of me to think otherwise. Ergo, you may never have an explaination, but suffice it to say that my knighted counsulor was right about motovation, but didn’t forsee the execution of the predestined pattern.

    I hate my life.
