  • Hot Water

Is it just me, or are humans pathetic? I mean come on!

I live in a studio apartment (when I’m not in my LA chateau) and it has a small water heater. Something like 20 gallons. I’ve been here three years now, and the water is never hot enough. It’s not hot enough when I shave, it’s sure not hot enough when I take a shower and it’s not hot enough when I wash dishes. I don’t understand this.

Maybe the pipes just aren’t insolated. I’ll have hot water for 5 minutes in the dead hot of summer. Other then that, there’s no hot water. I’ve even turned the hot water heater up to 145 degrees, give or take. This is just disturbing.

When I went home last Christmas, they had hot water. Granted, it still didn’t last and there were a few days where it wasn’t quite hot enough. I don’t buy into the theory that I can tolerate water that is that hot, but for God’s sake, can’t I get a break? This is just menacing.

What do you think is going on here?

  • First comment! Wooo!

BTW, much improved from the voice post. Didn’t listen to it, but if my mom was going to sleep… it’s bad.

You ranted about hot water… I ranted about abortion. Sounds like a very unfair deal if ya ask me, but if you’re of a mind to comment about the forementioned subject, check muh site.

What do I think is going on? Meh, does each appartment have it’s own personal water heater? Or is it like one floor is expected to share one heater or what??

If you have your own personal one… *odd look* Maybe your water heater is broken. Have you thought of that??

    Anyway -

You asked what we wanted your next subject line to be, I’ve decided. *grins* Do a post about euthenasia (sp??) if neccessary do some homework, but I want to see what you come up with. *grins* It’ll give you somthing to do, besides the fact, that if you do a post about something rather controversial you might get another debate/discussion going on here, which would probably add anther feather to your cap.

    Luv ya!

How’s come you don’t have the kool smilies on here like I do?? Me says you need smilies.

  • Damnit – Second anyway ;)

  • I had a 60-gallon tank in my house in Texas. That was about a 45-minute piping hot shower right there my friend. Ain’t nothing better.

To answer your question, MOVE OUT OF THE HOOD!

  • My building didn’t have hot water for one day and I just about died, I can’t imagine what you’re going through.

In response to your question from a few days ago, I’m SO excited for the holidays, especially since I’m spending Thanksgiving week with Kate!!!

    -A-

  • lol well no, i dont have some terrible disease that’s going to make me die tomorrow, but i do have chronic illnesses that limit me to what i can do. and thank you about the family thing, but until my father understands that i really dont want him in my life, i dont think anything’s going to get better.

about my boyfriend, it’s a little harder than that. i know i should break up with him, i really do, but it’s not all that easy. we truely do love each other, and i have faith in him that he’ll get over this phase. i think he’s still a little immature, and still wants to be that kid that does whatever he wants without getting punished.

and books, really, i like books that actually have a meaning not ones that im going to finish it and be like, what did i even learn from that? so yeah, classics are good, and just other books like that in general.

  • i dunno but my apt doesn’t have very hot water either.  when i first moved in i got MAYBE 3 mins of hot water… i complained and they turned it up some but i still don’t get more than 10 mins or so.  and this is a girl who LOVES to take loooong hot showers.  i feel so very deprived now.  i’ve had to learn to wash fast.  but do u know how bad it hurts to shave the legs when the water is cold and you have goosebumps?  it HURTS!!  :(

  • I have plenty of hot water for my showers =]
yours just may be broken, you may wanna get that checked out.

and i have Chronic Epstien Barr. It’s what causes mono, along with other things. It may not cause bad symptoms my whole life, but it will stay in my body in remission. There’s also Chronis Fatigue Syndrome, which is caused by that, which goes without much explanation.

about my father, he’s never been there for me, not even when i was young, he didnt put in effort and chose alcohol over his family. a real winner, let me tell you. now he says he wants to be in my life, he wants to be a good father. my response? “i’ve given you fifteen years to make an effort, and if those weren’t enough, i guess you’re out of luck.” i really did want a relationship with him at one point, he just goes against everything i stand for and i dont feel the need to put up with him. plus his maturity level is that of a one year olds, which bothers me to no end.

and although i am quite a jealous girlfriend [because of the things he's done] i guess im willing to put up with it because i love him and can see myself with him for the rest of my life. i know it might sound ridiculous to you, since i’m only fifteen, but i really can.

and i’ll be sure to check out those books =]

  • As water heaters age, mineral deposits from the hard water collect on them internally, and over time the ability to hold any quantity of water is diminished. The only real solution is to replace it, since only large commercial units are made to be cleaned. Personally, I think that any water heater under thirty gallons is too small, but that is just my opinion.

  • Your apartment building is cheap. They need to replace your heater and probably their entire pipe heating system.

I am so thankful for hot water at my house! When I went on a missions trip to Argentina, we were there in the dead of winter and they didn’t have hot water where we stayed. I’d come out of the shower with icicles on the ends of my hair. Not very pleasant.

  • I don’t understand. Why are humans pathetic because you don’t have hot water? Is there some link between the two that I’m missing?

  • RYC: I know they won’t replace it. It’s what needs to be done, but since when does building management care about that? Oh yeah, only when it gets them in a lawsuit. *sigh*

And as far as the full plate goes…yeah, I guess so. I’ll probably have gray hair by the time I’m thirty But that’s just part of being a military wife. Or maybe just a wife. *ponders*

  • Much like mr. freeze  -the ice water in your veins – casts a chilling pall over the space around you…

    …that or minerals

  • “What do you think is going on here?” I think kitty is sabotaging your pipes. Admit it, he’s got a malevolent streak somewhere in all that scared-ness…

  • Yeah, I’m alive. Hurray! Glad you noticed I was missing though. Lol.

Eek, no hot water is lame. I’m sorry. I’m having problems with that myself. I just moved and the water in this house is like ice compared to the water at my old house. It bothers me everytime I get in the shower. >_<

  • Okay did you seriously just post about hot water??

Boil water on the stove and take a bath!!!
