Coveting iPod
While I had other things in mind for my first post in ’08, I have to share this with you now.
Some of you may remember that I was going to work for a friend of mine who was starting his own restaurant here in town at the end of ’06. I wasn’t able to make the training because even though I was going to work for him during the day, I was working at the TeeVee station at night, but that’s when he decided to do his training. (This was due, in large part, to the fact that people who had worked under him at a prominent chain restaurant here in town were going to work for him part-time.) After the three weeks of training, I was only able to make three days because of his scheduling. Therefore, I decided not to work for him. (As an ex-manger of mine, he also brought another ex-co-manger along with him. She and I butted heads before and was the reason I quit at the first restaurant. Suffice it to say she played a role in this one as well.)
Because I had only worked for him something like three hours on three different days, I didn’t feel like harassing him for a stipend check. I figured if it was that important he would mail me the check as previous business had. Such was not the case, so I figured the ex-co-manager decided not to pay me. I was cool with that too.
But I did get a W2 from them in the mail last night. So I called them up and said, “Hey, I just got a W2 from you, but I never got the money that you said you paid me, so can you check you records?” Apparently, they cut me checks but it was their policy not to mail them. Since I never came to pick them up (the check would be a year old at this point) and considering the fact that they were going to have to write me a new check anyway, when the check is cashed I’ll have enough money to pay cash for that shiny new iPod Classic that I’ve been coveting for the past while.
I will not be purchasing the 160GB version as that would mean that ehowton and I would not have matching iPods. Not matching is not cool. Besides, I don’t have 160 GB of Judas Priest to give him.

How will he ever forgive you?

This is where i rely on the “benevolant” part of his title of Benevolent Bastard.
Good day Tom!
I have been thinking about you lately…wondering what was up with you. (Partly because I was listening to Rush! =o>)
Hope you are well…sounds like you have a new toy to play with…one that matches Eric! So glad you had a good time while you were down his way…although I must admit, that picture Eric posted of you covered in vomit in the back of a truck was gross!
Have a good one!

It’s always nice to know that my adoring public loves me.

Not yet
one that matches Eric!
I hate to be the one to correct Granny, but no our iPods don’t match.
If you read the text closely, I don’t have the iPod yet. All I said was is that when (and if?) I get the check from said job I would have enough money to pay cash for the iPod at which time I will do just that. The idea that we would have matching iPods is (bad) joke that Howton made in his comments when I was discussing which iPod to purchase. (That’s why I linked to it in my post). Unfortunately, no one is finding the humor in this post.
This saddens me.
I feel like I failed to communicate clearly, but I don’t know how to make my words clearer. Now I know how Howton feels every day.
I’m sorry!! I have dyslexia, and sometimes I read things wrong. You are correct…you said WHEN you get the check cashed, not that you had one. And not getting the humor about he iPod is again my fault. I did not go to the link. I really should go to the links when I come across them, because when I put one in my post, I put it there for a reason…and so did you!
I often miss the humor….it just goes right over my gray head. It did even when the head was brown. I tend to take what people say for what they really mean. Call me naive, but it’s how I am.
Good day to you sir!!!

It’s all good.
You have a fantasstic day ma’am!
Holy windfall, Batman!
@DefyDescription -
It’s certainly been a while since I’ve seen you around here.
Since you mention Batman, let me give you a preview of things to come.
You and your foamy rants.

@mahz -
What’s wrong with a little Foamy?
(2 @mahz?) I assume you are referencing the squirrel…?
@mahz -
but of course!
Awesome. Let’s rant.

@mahz -
You were ranting about Starbucks.
I hate them because they scorch their beans. A really cool girl told me that once and ever since then I couldn’t drink their coffee.
Your turn.
Rant of the moment: text msgs. Seriously, wtf? There is a universally-accepted method of msging. I text, they text, and so on and so forth. People who send 5 msgs to my one are irritating and need to be kicked in the shins. Hard. Back to you.

I hate stupid people. I think that people should have to take a test of general knowledge and common sense. If they fail, they die.
I think you are wrong about the whole “having to be a male” thing. It sounds like it can be adapted to an equal opportunity experience. Vote yes on proposition goat skin slap.
