  • Dark Knight Shut Out at Oscars, Returns to IMAX

The Dark Knight was shut out of a Best Diretor nod for Chris Nolan at the Oscars this year as well as Best Picture. The late Heath Ledger is got a Best Supporting Actor nod, which he is favored to win. Other categories The Dark Knight was nominated for are as follows:

    Best Art Direction
    Best Cinematography
    Best Editing
    Best Makeup
    Best Sound
    Best Sound Editing
    Best Visual Effects

The Dark Knight is coming back to the Opry Mills 20 IMAX theater. I’m trying to get a group to go to the Sunday 1540 show; please check the site (The Dark Knight poster is a link to ticket sales for Sunday and Dark Knight is the top show in the list.) for tickets. Also, if you would like to be part of my group, send me an email, Private Message or what-have-you with your email address and I will send you an invite to my Google Calendar invitation.

For those of you in either LA, NYC or Chicago, there is going to be a special showing of Batman Begins and The Dark Knight back to back in the IMAX theaters. Check the IMAX website for details.

  • I was surprised Ledger was nominated for best supporting actor–I expected him to be nominated, but I thought he would qualify as one of the lead actors in The Dark Knight.  I swear he got more screen time than Christian Bale did… or at least it felt like he did.

  • @heidenkind – I wondered about this myself.

  • Maybe they knew he would win whatever category he was in, so they shuffled him off to the supporting category so Sean Penn could win… again.   Who knows.

  • @heidenkind – Fuck Sean Penn. Johnny was robbed of his Pirates Oscar because of that son-of-a-bitch and it doesn’t take talent to act the part of a gay…unless you’re homophobic.

Liberals are great hypocrites, however, so perhaps Penn really did actually act for a change.

  • Personally, I think Sean Penn is a terrible actor.  I seriously cannot stand watching him.  But you know he’s going to win again.  Well, I take that back, Mickey Rourke might get it.

  • @heidenkind - I’ll admit I haven’t seen Rourke’s earlier work, but I did enjoy him in Sin City, Domino, Man on Fire and Once Upon a Time in Mexico and am looking forward to his performace in The Wrestler.

  • He was good in Sin City.  We probably won’t get The Wrestler where I live, though.

  • @heidenkind – I’ve yet to see The Wrestler listed here in the thriving metropolis of Huntsvegas.

  • I really want to see that movie!

  • @watersedge62 – You should go see it. It would keep you off of Xanga for almost three hours.

  • ha ! i’m trying to get a party bus to go into NYC for the same.. now -wth is that link to your friend’s post?? wanted to go from your page..

You’re going to have to be more explicit in step three.
