Sentence Three. Page Ninety-Two. Guess the book.
I usually abstain from memes, but this one brought a twinkle to my eye when I realized how much fun this could be given what was closest to me.
Here we go:
Instructions:
1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open to page 92.
3. Find the third sentence.
4. Post the text of the sentence along with these instructions.
5. Don’t dig for a favorite book, pick the CLOSEST.By Sept. we have to decide whether to negotiate a long term sales agreement with the Soviets.
I’ll reveal the book behind a cut once successfully guessed.

@lizheartshakespeare – yes. 1 down, 20 to go.
@ProfessorTom - ever made into a movie?
@lizheartshakespeare – no. 2 down, 18 to go.
American, British, or Soviet author?
@lizheartshakespeare – Yes, no and no. 5 down, 15 to go.
fiction or non-fiction?
@lizheartshakespeare – Hrm. That would depend on who you asked. Are we talking about classification on the shelf or what people think of the work and the author(s)?
@ProfessorTom - classification on the shelf
@lizheartshakespeare – Most definately non-fiction.
Rethinking Cold War Culture By Peter J. Kuznick, James Burkhart Gilbert?
@lizheartshakespeare – Thanks for playing. You are incorrect.
@ProfessorTom - can I try again or do we only get one chance?
@lizheartshakespeare – hrm. We didn’t go over that rule did we.
*turns to audience*
Audience, what do you think?
@ProfessorTom – No. No second chances allowed. This is like Quiz Show man.
@ProfessorTom - Go for it. I have no clue. I’m not big on non-fiction.
Your turn will be up soon
@lizheartshakespeare – Yay!
I thought I’d get more takers on this. *pouts*
@IfonEarth – I’ll give you a hint: There’s pre-printed writing on the inside of the covers. If you don’t look closely, you will think it’s handwritten.
@ProfessorTom - No, seriously. I never read non-fiction.
@IfonEarth – Wow. What do you read?
@ProfessorTom - More or less anything else.
@IfonEarth – …that isn’t non-fiction.
@ProfessorTom - …? I don’t read non-fiction. I read basically anything that’s fictional.
@IfonEarth – Would that include the New York Times?
@ProfessorTom - Are you trying to imply something about the NYTimes? I meant books, of course. That said, I rarely read newspapers anymore.
@IfonEarth - Are you trying to imply something about the NYTimes?
There once was a kid named Jason Blair.
I meant books, of course.
Of course.
That said, I rarely read newspapers anymore.
My buddy had subscribbed to the local rag for a while, but nobody in town can write. That having been said, I read too many RSS feeds and blogs. When provided complimentary, I’ll read USA Today.
@ProfessorTom – It could be fun to run a newspaper.
@ProfessorTom - One journalist does not a paper make.
@IfonEarth – Truer words were never spoken.
Yeah, I will never guess this as I also tend to stick mostly to fiction, except for medical literature. But I am amused by the previous conversation thread
Most of the nonfiction books I read tend to be about art. However, I’m going to take a wild guess and say it’s a biography of Ian Flemming. Just cuz.
@Rveblade – Amusement is always good. And your avatar made me think of this commerical.
@heidenkind – It would be a lie to say that the book is a biography. It would be a lie to say that the book is an autobiography. A diary by any other name…
A diary, eh? Hmmmm.
Aha! Is it the Reagan Diaries?
@heidenkind – We have a winner!
Yay for me.
@heidenkind – Yay for you.
So far everyone I know has done this…except my cousin. Sadly I was not at my own home when playing this game. So it wasnt my own book
@MidnightChyld – I wasn’t going to do it, but when I saw that The Reagan Diaries was the closest tome, I couldn’t resist.
With a screen name like yours I just had to stop by for a visit. I’ll be interested to see what all you have to say.
@FKIProfessor – Why thank you! I was just on your site (as I saw you in my Footprints), but somehow I totally missed the Professor in your nick. Please, have a look around. I hope you enjoy what you see here. I was just telling ehowton that I desperately needed to get a post up.
Thanks for stopping by!
