No Hope from this Change
Because of campaign work, I went over my plan last month by 190 minutes. Granted, I had a 900 minute plan, so excluding the mobile to mobile and nights and weekends, I had a grand total of 1090 minutes used. 190 minutes at $0.40/minute = $76! Add this to the usual $76 and you’ve got $152 bill. Add to this that somehow I put the payment for last month’s bill in the checkbook register but somehow never submitted it, you’ve got nothing but a mess on your hands.
I called Verizon to sort the mess out. I was going to see if they would drop the entire overage charge if I were to switch to their unlimited minutes plan. They would only drop half. I should have pushed the issue more, but they use all kinds of fuzzy math and circular reasoning to make you think that you’re getting a deal when really you’re getting screwed.
And that Reminds Me…
…of the IRS. They too use fuzzy math and don’t know what the hell they’re doing. Because I’m going to be short at the first of the month because of the phone fiasco, I had an overwhelming desire to estimate how much I would get back in taxes this year. I made $5K less in 2009 than I did in 2008, so I can accurately claim that I made more money under Bush than I have Obama, much like people used to claim about Bush 41 and Clinton. Using the 2008 tax form/table and 2009 numbers, I’m being taxed at 21.5% and I’ll owe the State while only get $300 back from the Feds. The Sixteenth Amendment really needs to be repealed. In light of the original document, it’s un-Constitutional.
Social Security and FICA can go while we’re at it.
If you’d like to make a Paypal donation, you can click on the Baracknaphobia button below. I really just need to cover the cost of the difference between what my phone bill normally is and how much I owe now, so really, a few $5 and $10 donations will do the trick.

yup. it’s all a nasty, government-run scam to kill the middle class of America and feed the greed of the elite. it’s time America took a hard look at the facts and called the government on its spin game.
@PreciousOnyx - This Scott victory isn’t the end of the battle by a long shot. Hopefully I’ll have time to put that analysis up tonight.
Dude, that sucks. Aren’t you glad I didn’t call you afterall? Lol.
You still okay for this weekend? If not, completely understood. Been there. And still there most of the time.
Yeah, during Obama’s first year was the FIRST time my family was truly in financial trouble. Hubby got laid off and we almost got evicted. Companies are feeling the pinch and Minnesota is one of the worst states for small businesses. Our governor has been doing what he can but we have Dems running pretty much everything else and they want to tax the companies out of business pretty much. *sigh*
@DirtyAndShaken - This weekend is happening come hell or high water.
@ProfessorTom - Lol… okay. Agreed! Paul will gladly buy you a beer at Big River.
@firetyger - This is why it’s so important to get involved in politics this election cycle by working campaigns, educating voters, and personally knowing every candidate that you pull the lever for.
@DirtyAndShaken - He’s too kind. And Xanga has fucked up my profile pics yet again.
@ProfessorTom - How ever will you function?
@DirtyAndShaken - I won’t. I’m having withdrawals right now. I’ve never had this problem with LJ.
lets see,, you want me to donate to you so you can campaign to cut off my paycheck… hahahahaha,, i didnt fall for it when ears was pushing to cut off your paycheck…
i dont believe ive ever mentioned it,, anywhere,, but i do draw social security.. it is my main source of income…
granted,, i could have invested in enron,, but i didnt,, would i be making more?
its something i paid into for a long long time,,, every payday.. and one of the actual workable programs the government came up with.. if they had not stolen the money out of it…. thats not social securitys fault,,, thats someone elses fault,,, and i think they should put the money back… i bailed out the government,, now id like my money returned…
most of your stuff,, i can agree with.. social security,, no..
i live in mexico,, because i can.. its cheaper,, i dont bother nobody,, and nobody can really bother me,, im out of their jurisdiction,, i like it like that..
it was touted people could,, and should put together their own retirement plan… hahahaha,,, what do you suggest? nothing pays interest,, all are in real danger of collapsing,,, (as well as our government)
and even if all goes as has gone for the past,,, i dunno how many years,, the average person needs all their money to survive,, very few can put money back and never touch it… i know i couldnt,, i may be strange,, but i am not that strange,, i am not alone..
social security,, in my peronal opinion,, should stay,, its a pain in the neck,, but if the money went to what it was paid to go for… it would never run out of money… and 99% of the population that lives long enough,, will need it… whether they think so today or not..
@mejicojohn - At least someone started the discussion on the meaty stuff.
I don’t believe that it’s the government’s place to give people pensions. I think that the problem lies in the number of taxes that we have, from the Marxist progressive income tax to all the corporate taxes that are just passed on to consumers. If corporate taxes went to zero and we switched to the Fair Tax, I believe that we would see the abundance that came when America made the The 5000 Year Leap.
i agree,, the fair tax,, i believe thats a sales tax,, isnt it,, should be plenty.
the government has no business gathering money for any purpose other than the defense of the nation,,, from foreign invasion…
ears actual title is commander in chief,, not funds distributor…
and no,, its not the governments place to give people pensions,, but it is a good idea simply because people,, cant/wont do it themselves,,, mostly cant… ive started out several times in an attempt,, theres always that rainy day tho to disolve what i accumulated.. fortunatly,, i could not tap into my social security..
a couple of years ago,, i ran a pretty successful campaign on the website u4prez.. i made it all the way to the general election,, and would have won,,,, hahahaha,, the dems cheated,, and beat me out by,, i think it was 4 votes.. i trounced on the republicans,,, this was with several thousand candidates..
i ran,, not for president as a dem or rep,, but for absoute king as an independent..
my platform was to abolish all taxes,,, except for a fair tax,,, close 99 % of our prisons,, abolish all laws,, and rewrite them,, on a single sheet of paper,,,
fire all legislators,, (dont need legislators when you have absolute rule) and during a 6 month period,, reorganize… one six month term was all i wanted,, because then,, like now,, i really didnt want a job…
hahaha,, it was only a play site of course,, but the creator went with the dems to insure i didnt win.. it totally would defeat the purpose of his site,, he saw visions of real politicians getting ideas from it how to campaign…
i kinda threw them for a loop,, an accomplshment i am proud of…
that concludes my bragging for the day
