yep, it was a civic and moral duty when Dem’s were not in control…i despise them and their hypocrisy….
The hipocracy in Washington is sicking. what makes this even funnier is that it is the liberal progressives in congress who are pushing a fascist agenda. Look at the pictures of the mall after the Tea Party “mobs”, and the peacfull gathering at the Obama inaugeration. Which one looks like a mob attacked Washington? oh thats right the peacfull democrats.
No, each of those things is a separate thing. You act as if someone says “astroturf!” every time someone disagrees with the administration. People get called out on astroturfing when they’re astroturfing, like when “americans for prosperity” calls itself a grass roots organization when it was actually created by an oil billionaire to lobby against policies that hurt corporate profits. That’s calling someone out on bullshit.
But whatever, go be simple-minded and intellectually dishonest.
@tialoca_talks - Um, the dems both in congress and the administration have willingly submitted themselves to countless townhalls, interviews etc where they answered tough questions. The president just went on TV and answered questions from 140 republican leaders at their summit.
The idea that dissent is not allowed by democrats just because overtly racist comments are called racism, astroturfing is called astroturfing, fear-mongering is called fear mongering etc is asinine.
@tialoca_talks - What you are essentially saying is that calling conservatives out on these things is fascism and shouldn’t be allowed… in the name of allowing free and open dissent.
@obamawatch - Tea party assholes went around picking up after other tea partiers’ litter so they could use that as a dig. It’s manufactured nonsense that doesn’t even begin to reflect on anyone or anything. Not to mention that it’s absurd to suggest that only democrats would attend a presidential inauguration.
It’s absurd to suggest that someone would go spend hours and hours in the freezing cold to go see the guy they couldn’t stand get sworn in. Talk about intellectually dishonest. And those “overtly racist” comments you were talking about… were those like calling a guy out for being a liar when he is, in fact, lying?
When MoveOn.org stops funding protests, then you can start bitching about astro-turf.
@agnophilo - wait you are call Tea Partiers assholes because they picked up when they were done. If anything your statement prooves that the people went to inaugeration are assholes because they didn’t clean up after each other. If Washington was truely fair they would have been disgusted by the state the mall was in after the inaugeration and said so publicly. They only accused the Tea Party, which was a peacfull protest of average American’s of being a mob because they dare to stand against their agenda.
Those town halls where a joke, To ask President Obama a question you had to pre-submit it to make sure you didn’t ask him anythign to hard.
What racist comments are you talking about? Honest question.
I would also like to point out President Obama goes out and demands bipartisian support from the Republicans, he accuses Republicans of slowing down the process. Whats odd about this is that President Obama doesn’t need a single vote for his radical agenda to pass. Every Republican could vote no and a bill can still pass. He is demonizing the GOP for daring to stand against him. In a vain attempt to gather poltical support for the up coming elections.
@obamawatch - Oh and I will point out that this hypocrisy exisit in both the GOP and Democrat party. I appologize for not making that clear.
I think some are noticing and some are blind. Who cares about blind partisans they would vote democrat if their man was caught performing human sacrifices. All 1000 witnesses are lying, the video was photo shopped and Bush started it . . .
@trunthepaige - Careful. agno will call you a troll.
@ProfessorTom - I have trouble understanding him. He just can not see how he comes across. To say he is ineffective at persuading anyone of anything is an understatement. Obviously he is not a people person
The tea party attendees, are not window breaking malcontents, unlike the left.
@agnophilo - so, the attendees of the tea party cleaned up their messes as part of a CONSPIRACY to make democrats look bad?? AHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHHAHAHAHHAHAAHAHA that is the stupidest thing i have heard all day, and im a bill collector, i talk to morons for a living.
“wait you are call Tea Partiers assholes because they picked up when they were done. If anything your statement prooves that the people went to inaugeration are assholes because they didn’t clean up after each other.”
No, I’m calling them assholes because they bashed liberals/democrats for the litter at the inauguration and then deliberately picked up the tea party litter just so they could bash them some more, which is pathetic. It’s not as if the two rallies were held at the same time and the tea party one happened to have less litter. Liberals could just as easily have done the same to them, it’s nonense.
“If Washington was truely fair they would have been disgusted by the state the mall was in after the inaugeration and said so publicly.”
You act as thought the president attacked tea partiers for being litter bugs and ignored the inauguration litter or something. How is it not “fair” for the commander in chief to not also be the litter police?
“They only accused the Tea Party, which was a peacfull protest of average American’s of being a mob because they dare to stand against their agenda.”
This is too vague to really respond to. I don’t know any specific remark you could be referring to. I know many criticisms of the tea party movement that were made, none of them were this vague that I can recall.
“Those town halls where a joke, To ask President Obama a question you had to pre-submit it to make sure you didn’t ask him anythign to hard.”
That is literally a lie. The only submitted questions were when he broadcast one on the web and let people submit some of the questions for the townhall over the internet. As I just said he was invited to the republican leadership’s summit and answered questions from the republican leadership candidly, on camera. Were their questions screened too?
“What racist comments are you talking about? Honest question.”
I wasn’t referring to any specific comment, any more than the OP was. I was just saying people were called out on racist comments when they appeared to be racist, not because anyone suggested that dissent = racism. When you had people calling the first black president hitler, a nazi, calling for his impeachment etc before he even took office that does suggest racism is a part of that hatred, simply because it’s without precedent and very hard to rationally explain it otherwise.
“I would also like to point out President Obama goes out and demands bipartisian support from the Republicans,”
I believe he requested it, not “demanded” it. And has been trying to work with them from day one.
“he accuses Republicans of slowing down the process.”
They are, as a matter of fact, deliberately slowing down all of the functions of government.
“Whats odd about this is that President Obama doesn’t need a single vote for his radical agenda to pass. Every Republican could vote no and a bill can still pass. He is demonizing the GOP for daring to stand against him. In a vain attempt to gather poltical support for the up coming elections.”
No, this is false. If you have been following this at all you know that republicans are filibustering or threatening to filibuster virtually all legislation and abusing the senate rules in a way no one ever has before. When they lost their senate majority in 2007 they filibustered twice as many pieces of senate business than anyone ever has in the history of the senate and this year if they keep up their current pace they will have filibustered 3 times the previous record. A filibuster requires a 2/3 majority, or 60 votes to stop. Which means they are abusing senate protocols to require a a super-majority not just to pass major legislation, but to do anything in the senate. They have also held up his nominees, so that over 200 positions (40% of those that require congressional approval) in his administration are not filled a year after the nominees are submitted to congress. They’re holding up the nominations just because they can. They’re also submitting ammendments hundreds of pages long to legislation just to invoke rules that require them to be read in total to waste hours and hours of congress’ time, as well as various other things.
This is why they were gloating over wining one special election because it gives them a 41 seat “majority” in the senate that they can use to trump the dems’ 59 seat “minority”.
They are abusing senate procedural rules to dictate policy from the political minority, which is distasteful to say the least.
“It’s absurd to suggest that someone would go spend hours and hours in the freezing cold to go see the guy they couldn’t stand get sworn in. Talk about intellectually dishonest.”
Well I know it’s popular for republicans to hate the other guy these days, but hopefully not ever republican is as disgustingly hateful as you.
“And those “overtly racist” comments you were talking about… were those like calling a guy out for being a liar when he is, in fact, lying?”
That is so vague it doesn’t merit a response.
“When MoveOn.org stops funding protests, then you can start bitching about astro-turf.”
Grassroots refers to any populist social movement mostly coming from the ground up, or any organization mostly funded by small, individual donations. Astroturfing refers to corporations who create organizations and make them look like populist movements to trick people. Whether moveon.org is grassroots or not is debatable, but even if I agreed that they astroturf it would not support the conclusion that people are being called out on astroturfing as some form of attempt at automatic censorship of any and all dissent.
@obamawatch - I’m not a big fan of either party. I think ideally they’ll both split off into different factions so we have more interesting elections with more options to choose from, not just flipping a coin with “democrat” on one side and “republican” on the other.
