  • Request for Comments – Suggested Dispersion of Blogging Content

I’m considering making a slight change in blogging patterns. I haven’t made a final decision yet, but I think this is what i want to do:

Use Live Journal more for personal stuff, ranting and raving. I’ll post political stuff to the appropriate communities to offload that burden from you the reader. If you want to read that content, you can find it in either [info]conservatism, [info]conservacorner or [info]libtards. If there is something relevant to the State of Alabama, it will get posted to News Platoon and potentially the communities.

Film reviews will be posted to Montag’s Reviews and other sites as I get signed. I think I will probably also put those reviews here on Live Journal, but I’m highly considering either starting or joining a film/film review community for these posts.

Xanga will still be the catch-all place but with a lot of additional white noise. If you don’t like posts that are just a You-tube video or a Demotivator without additional explanation, Xanga will not be your choice of feed for my content.

I will continue to link to news stories on Twitter and Xanga Pulse.

Of course, if you’re friends with me on Facebook, all of my posts should eventually go through there, though Facebook is selective about what it does and doesn’t show you based on your interests. The idea here is to start eliminating superfluous redundant content between [info]schpydurx and Professor Tom.

As always, though, I don’t want to act without hearing first from you the reader. While it’s true that I do use my blog to vent or report my findings and that there will always be protected and potentially private posts (I can’t think of a post anywhere I have written and have set the security to private–that is to say where only I can read the content. There have been a handful of posts that have started out protected and went private, but not the other way around.) and I still hold the philosophy that one should blog for themselves, I also understand that what makes blogging work is the dialog between the blog writer and his readers; therefore, I herby submit this proposal for your consideration and request your feedback. It is possible that in the no-so-distant future I may trial one some of these plans and that I may only make the distinction in my head, but as always, Dear Reader, I want to announce my intentions and hear from you first.

    Sincerely,
    Professor Tom

  • too much work to go find yur stuff…leave it alone is my vote….

  • @tialoca_talks - Thanks for the feedback. I’ve put you down in the status quo column. ;)

  • Eh, I read it all when I get a chance.  I want to read more personal stuff, so I’ll hunt your ass down on LJ if I have to.  I’m kind of doing the same thing…. sort of.  I never thought I’d want a public blog, but I realized I rarely blog about truly personal, deep stuff anymore and there’s a lot of stuff I want to share with my friends and family.  But directing them here would be a terrible mistake since this blog has ALWAYS been my diary.  Anyway, that’s why I set up the public blog and it’s taking off way better than I ever thought it would.  Facebook does wonders for blogging!

Anywho, just let me know what you decide so I know where to find all your stuff, mmkay?
And post some photos with the new camera, like soon.

  • write.

    cut n paste stuff ifn…

    make the pics fit.

    avoid cut tags.

(now that a wise man guy taught me what it is)
    thank you for your attention.

    period

    .

  • it will take me much longer to get to where everything is… But I’ll be okay with doing that…I may need to make a feed updater for you so i can find the links more live than later…

  • @escaping_logic - You’ll need an LJ account if you want to read the protected stuff. Might also require a computer too. ;)

  • lol@ProfessorTom - i’ll sign up just for you.

  • @escaping_logic - That’s sweet of you.
