  • Thank You for the Free Healthcare, Mr. President

    obamacare joker card

So we just got a flyer from our current health insurance company delivered to my place of work. This flyer contains the “changes” that can be made to the contract at any time. Try this gem on for size:

Employers with fewer than 20 Employees (Effective July 1, 2010)
If you (or your spouse) is eligible for Medicare due to disability and is also covered under the plan by virtue of your current employment status with the employer, your coverage under the plan will cease and you (or your spouse) should enroll in Medicare and may purchase a Medicare Supplement Contract.

    –emphasis mine

For all of Obama’s talk about wanting to help the little guy, the only thing he has done is make people more dependent on the government. He has removed benefits that small businesses offer to their employees.

For those of you suckers who haven’t joined a union and work for a company that employs less than 20 employees, Our Dear Leader has a message for you: SHUT UP, SLAVE!

  • I believe even the union contracts take it in the shorts and are taxed as income in a few years. They get a delay so the union members can forget that their own union leaders agreed to them being screwed.

  • This happened now?

  • @trunthepaige - But hey, Obama brought HOPE and CHANGE!!!

  • @ProfessorTom - I know, its just disgusting. and unfortunate.

  • This is me being difficult, but it’s “employs less than 20 employees” rather than “employees less than 20 employees”. I like my grammar being correct. XP

I take it you’re at a place of work with less than 20 employees?

When would this provision take affect? I know that the majority of the controversial changes are going to be phased in during 2012-2014…

Some of the costs in my current health plan will be going up on September 1 so they’ll be more out-of-pocket expenses to cover – like an extra $5 on doctor visits, and on each tier of prescription drugs as well.

I think the basic message is, DON’T GET SICK! Then you won’t have to worry too much about your own costs save the money in taxes that are leached out of you to pay for those poor saps who get sick. How dare they! XP

  • @cmdr_keen -  it’s “employs less than 20 employees” rather than “employees less than 20 employees”.
    Fixed.

  • @cmdr_keen - I take it you’re at a place of work with less than 20 employees?
No, we hover around 60. I wanted to point out that this was a change due to Obamacare. I currently don’t have health insurance because I can’t afford it and I still will not be able to afford it under Obamacare. I need a better job.

When would this provision take affect?
Yannow, I should have put that in the original post. Effective July 1, 2010.

Some of the costs in my current health plan will be going up on September 1
That may be adjustment for inflation, not Obamacare.

I think the basic message is, DON’T GET SICK!
No, that was the Republican plan, remember?

  • that is just sad, and the politicians expect us to bow down and thank them for passing that bill that so few people wanted.  Didn’t they keep going on about how it would not effect people who already had insurance?

  • @wearywalden - That’s right. “If you like your insurance, you get to keep your current plan.” Of course, there was the fine print at the bottom of that statement that said, “Some restrictions apply. Pass the bill for more details.”

  • I’d call it a “bait and switch” but almost everybody knew it was a hook, not a tasty worm. Short-sighted people voted for Democrats only to spite the Republicans and are somehow surprised that the socialist, spend-happy Democratic Party is bloating government with dollars.

Everybody cover your eyes and run towards the cliff – if we can’t see the ground end we won’t fall.

  • @JJ_Ames - What’s going to be even better are all the moderate Republicans that get put in office in November. The Tea Parties didn’t see that one coming either.

  • @ProfessorTom - Moderate Republicans? You mean Fake Republicans, right? I don’t know why the party courts Moderate Republicans – they’re more likely to push out the Base than attract Democrats to jump ship.

    Spend, Spend, Spend!

  • Interesting entry. Proof please…

@JJ_Ames - Socialist, Socialist, Socialist. It’s a fun word to say and type…I’m not surprised that people throw it around so casually.

  • @JJ_Ames - You speak the truth.

  • @A_NY_Zone61 - Proof of what? this came directly off the insurance form.

  • @ProfessorTom - You could scan and post the alleged insurance form [with your name and personal info blacked out of course].

  • @A_NY_Zone61 - I’ll try to remember to bring it home from work tomorrow.

  • @ProfessorTom - Looking forward to that.

In the meantime, feel free to comment on my latest entry…even though I already have a sense of what you think of President Obama.

  • @ProfessorTom - I believe you were reciprocating when you commented on my post. I’ll check it out but I won’t guarantee a comment [although I could use the credits].

  • @A_NY_Zone61 - Credits are good. Recs are better.

  • @ProfessorTom - It’s a toss-up.

  • @A_NY_Zone61 - the shoes fits and they wear it but cover the brand name. It looks like a duck (with a nice Stalin mustache), it quacks like a duck (FASCISTQUACK), and it waddles around the race card.

  • @JJ_Ames - Lol, entertaining response.
All this talk of ducks made me think of “Darkwing Duck“[He was a superhero who happened to be a duck...brilliant]…I used to love that show.

  • @A_NY_Zone61 - Ah yes, dear Darkwing. I can only recall the very last portion of his theme song. And like all Disney ducks, he refused to wear pants.

  • @JJ_Ames - ”Let’s get Dangerous”, lol. I vaguely recall some of them at least wearing shorts.

  • Well, for those of us who actually read the bill this comes as no surprise   But still…it pisses me off that he and the other top dems got away with lying to the American people.

  • @firetyger – Reading the bill only gave us clues. Remember Pelosi said, “We have to pass the bill for you to find out what’s in it.”

  • @escaping_logic – This is only the beginning.
