Obama Administration COMMANDING Witness to Incriminate Herself
The Obama Administration––get that? not the Bush Administration but rather THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION––has asked a judge to COMMAND a defendant to decrypt her data so she can incriminate herself.
But remember boys and girls, your data is completely safe on your computer and you have nothing to hide anyway, right?
You might want to take a look at these two videos on the topic of the Fifth Amendment.
What part of “No person…shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself” does this two-bit, ten-horned dictator not get?

Interesting case.
The entry, sadly, does a serious disservice in its political muddling of the involved issues.
It is the role of the Justice Department to enforce the law of the land, and it should move with all the legal tools avaliable to it.
No single right is absolute. Pick any right– speech, arms, ballot– they are always sensibly balanced against competing liberties and legitimate government interests. And here too is a clear balance of competing interests, the libertay claims of the defendent and the legitimate public interest served. It would matter to the government or public safety in general, if behind file encription was a terrorist plots, plans for a drug deal, or evidence for a rape case.
It is not the role of the Department of Justice or any Presidential administration to set the boundaries of the Constitutional interpretation. That’s the job of the judiciary. As there is no caselaw on the matter, the DOJ is absolutely correct in asking a Federal Judget to rule on it.
