There’s a better way…
Opera: The fastest web browser on earth. As you peruse the interwebz today, you have run across one of the 503 redundant news articles telling you not to use IE (Internet Explorer for those of you in New York City) and to use an alternative browser. Most are recommending Firefox, but I would like to recommend a different browswer: Opera the fastest browser on earth.
Opera requires no plugins or endless configuration. Opera works right out of the box and includes many features to make your Internet experience more efficient and more enjoyable. Opera is highly customizable and runs on Linux, Unix, OS X and Windows amongst other platforms.
Opera was the first browser to support tabbed browsing and pioneered Firefox’s so-called awesome bar. You can customize searches so that you can search the search engine of your choice straight from the address bar with one keystroke. (This includes searchable sites such as Wikipedia, and IMDB. Amazon and Google are pre-configured.) Opera is the only browser that supports IRC and even has a built-in bittorrent client for fast and dirty torrenting.
Best of all, Opera is fast, lightweight, secure and infinitely customizable. Opera truly is “Simply the Best Internet Experience on Any Device.”
Download it today at Opera.com.
NOTE: Opera just released their latest verion 9.63 today!

This seems way too good to be true…

It’s not. I use Opera every day at home and work. You can too. Download Opera today!

Opera is great at a lot of things. Its also kinda klunky. I use no less than three browsers to perform a variety of tasks, as they all have their strengths and their weaknesses. Anyone who ties themselves to one exclusively and as fanatically as Tomas has, is obviously unstable.

For the record, I use three browsers on a daily basis at work: IE, Safari and Opera. For what it’s worth, Safari is used for checkng work email, testing the product and using the in-house customer database. IE has to be used to access the ticket system. Opera is for my personal needs, such as blogs, personal email, RSS feeds and random links I’m sent throughout the day. I’ve downloaded Firefox on both Windows and OS X at work but have no need or desire to use it at work (thought I might use it for Google Notebook as Notebook is incompatible with Opera and you can only be signed into one Googe account per browser at a time. [All of my work email is sent to a Gmail account so I can manage email better.])

Please ignore Howton. He’s a pain in the ass.
Hi P Tom,
Thanks for the tip about Opera. I just started it up and it’s pretty cool. I need to learn more about it but you’re right – it is fast and has a lot to offer. Hope you have a very Merry Christmas and a super New Year too!!
Adios for now,
Steve T

Thanks man! Opera does have a lot to offer. Check out the mouse gestures!
If you have any questions, send them my way. In the meantime Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you too (even if it is a bit early.)
Haha. I use at least two browsers regularly, sometimes three. I try not to use more than that, though. I like Opera. :]

Opera makes me feel warm an fuzzy inside every time I use it. It’s like a fleece that you always wear. It’s so comfortable and familar it brings joy to you every time you use it.
Absolutely, have been an Opera fan since day one, and would like to add you forgot to mention that the email client is marvellous too. Higly customizable, and perfect for private email, and on-line group participation because of the ability to break things out so many different ways, by person, by group, etc. etc. unbeatable.

You’re right. I did forget to say something publically about M5. You’ll have to forgive me because I have used Gmail for the past 4 years. As much as I hate webmail, I do I have to say that Google got Gmail right. Conversation view is bar none the best feature out there, not to mention how you can have one email under multiple lables. ehowton swears by Yahoo because Yahoo has folders and he doesn’t think that email should be searchable. He didn’t get labels for the longest time either.
P.S. Though I’m using my Gmail avatar for this comment, what do you think about my Opera avatar? I can’t remember if it was on Opera’s site or not, but the image started as a desktop wallaper which I resized to debate ehowton with on Live Journal as he and his friends are die hard Firefox fans. When they first saw it, they thought it was a picture of red blood cells, LOL!
